A kid who CARES is a kid who WINS.
Back in GroValley, Maneesha continues her journey toward Potentia, but with a difficult climb ahead of her, she's feeling really frustrated. Wanda points out that frustration and trying new things often go together, and we need to make a choice; we can quit when things get hard, or we can grit up, work through the frustration, and learn.
To do this, we can use the WOOP method, which helps us get through frustrating times. We think about what we Wish to achieve, visualize the Outcome, recognize the Obstacles that stand in our way, and put a Plan in place to get past those obstacles. Keep in mind:
We can learn to recognize our own frustration cues, like clenched fists or feeling warm. We can then take steps to work through the frustration.
Wishing, Outcome, Obstacles, and Planning are steps of the WOOP method, which can help us reach goals despite our frustration.
What are some of the things you do when you feel frustrated? What do you feel inside? Hint: If you're not sure, consider asking someone you love and trust to tell you what they see when you're frustrated.
Life is full of obstacles: distractions, frustration, lack of time. What's one of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of reaching your goals? What can you do to move past that obstacle?
